All itineraries for the “Malga Trail” project are mapped out via GPS to be able to provide not only information on length, duration and altitude difference, but also the route in a “digital” format that can be used by any satellite navigator and cellphone App.
How to download your itinerary’s GPS route?
Each page is devoted to a single itinerary, by clicking on “Download .GPX” it’s possible to download the GPS route in .gpx format for free.
- If you use a satellite navigator, you can upload a route and use it during your trip, taking advantage of the GPS signal. In the case of a rental device, you must be sure to upload your desired route beforehand (ask for more information to your rental service provider).
- If you use a tablet or cellphone, in order to follow the route even if there is no phone coverage, it is necessary to add it among your routes inside the pre-installed App on the device.
Which App do you use to follow the route from tablet or cellphone?
There are several Apps available for either Android or iOS tablet and smartphone. Some of these may be used for free (with limited functions) and others are paid. All of them allow you to customize your excursions, starting with a basic route and then integrating and modifying the route to suit your needs.
After having made all of the changes, we further recommend tore-evaluate the final parameters (length, duration, altitude difference, variations compared to the original route).
For this project GPS mapping was done using Komoot. This App is particularly reliable, flexible, and allows you to share your own excursions with other App users in real time on social media.
The walking itineraries have been categorized as “Hiking”, while bike itineraries are “Mountain biking” (with an exception for itinerary D3, specific for “Road cycling”).
CAUTION: Changing this parameter (e.g., to Cycling or Gravel) may change the route suggested by the App.
